The Forrest City Area Humane Society operates primarily in Forrest City, secondarily in the county outside the city limits. We have no law enforcement powers to deal with neglect, abuse, abandonment, or other animal issues outside St. Francis County. We are a diverse group of people who have the common goal of educating the community through working with others in the area to promote responsible pet ownership. We strive to care for unwanted animals and to place them in good, permanent homes. It is our goal to investigate and prosecute animal abuse in this community.

Our Mission Statement: To shelter homeless animals, place them in permanent homes and promote responsible pet ownership through education and sterilization.

This group came to be when the founder, Sherri Zanders, first adopted her Pit Bull, Kira, who had been shot in the head at point blank range just for being a Pit Bull. Kira has fully recovered and now is the role model for her other family members and the foster dogs Sherri takes into her home while she looks for loving homes. It's always difficult to start a rescue group, but Sherri says the good Karma alone from helping these sweet dogs has made it all worth while. Sherri works together with Shana Garner's rescue, "Shana's Last Chance Rescue."

The mission of the MABTR is to rescue and re-home abandoned Boston Terriers and to persuade those interested in purchasing a dog, to “adopt, and not shop”, meaning to not purchase a dog or puppy from a puppy mill, or puppy mill-supplied pet store, but instead, to adopt a homeless dog to save a life."
