What I'm looking for
                                       THE BASICS

*Good quality digital pictures.
THIS IS THE #1 REASON PICTURES WERE REJECTED LAST YEAR!
Either 300 dpi, 12 inches in size, or 500 x 500 pixels.
Even though the picture might look good on your computer, it won't translate
well to print if it is low quality.
Simplest way to tell. When you attach the picture in your email- what number
is before the "KB"? It should be MINIMUM 300. Over 1000 is better!

*
Use your camera's Maximum Quality Setting!

*NO CELL PHONE PICTURES!  Honestly, the quality stinks.

*Only dogs who have been rescued and already are in good homes.
This is NOT to showcase dogs who are still up for adoption.

*No humans in the pictures.

*Photos must be able to be opened in Adobe Photo Shop.
Please do not crop your photos digitally before you send them.
It will lessen the quality when we edit them for the calendar.
Don't worry about the framing, we'll fix it!

*Send the picture as an attachment... NOT in the body of the email or
as a link to some online photo album,
please!  This lessens the quality and
makes them hard to access.

                     What I am looking for
                                        THE HINTS
The pictures on this page are all shots from the 2006 calendar

Don't think too much about posing your dog.
Most of our shots were just sit-stays.
I like that our dogs look like dogs, not models!

Consider the lighting
Avoid "green eye" caused by indoor flashes in dark rooms.
Pay attention to bad shadows.
Our major trick?  All outdoor photos.
We always got natural lighting and it helped the pictures tremendously!

Pay attention to the background of the shot.
We used trees, flowers, or interesting fences and walls, etc.
         Besides the pictures, please include:

*Your dog's NAME

*Your dog's  "HAPPY ENDING STORY"
A short telling for inclusion in the calendar.

ABOUT THE STORY:
Please don't worry if you don't think your dog's story is "out of the
ordinary" or "exciting" enough.  Where it's great to hear the heroic
stories which touch our hearts, the fact that you rescued your dog at
ALL is a story enough for me.  You opened your home to a dog who
needed a second chance.  How have things changed for you now that
he/she's in your life?   What are some of the things about your dog that
makes you smile?

*Your dog's
SHELTER or RESCUE (when applicable)
I'm including the names of the rescue groups alongside the photos.
This is a charity fund raising tool.
While it is completely FREE to submit your photo,
there is no pay for your picture's inclusion in the calendar.
By your sending it to me,
that is your agreement that it can be used if it is chosen.

I WILL give you one calendar per picture of yours
that is included at the printing cost:
$5.00 each
(plus shipping)
Okay, got all that?  Here's the link to email me!
I can't wait to see your pictures!

Photo Submissions!
2010 Submissions are
C
L O S E D
Check back April 1st-June 1st
2010 for the 2011 edition
Besides the normal cute pictures, which, of course,
I love, I'm looking for some different shots for 2010 also:
Do you have your dog sopping wet after a bath or covered in mud/snow?
Chewing on a no-no item or something unusual?
Buddy/Buddy with another animal?  (especially not a dog)
Caught doing an "action" shot running, jumping or what-have-you?
On vacation having a great time away from home?
Any other particularly comedic moment?
If the photo was taken
by a
professional
photographer,
I need an okay from the
photographer for me
to use it!
Lets not step on
anyone's toes!
