Why not sequential 6 classes?
Life can get busy. You shouldn’t have to worry about setting aside six consecutive weeks to an obedience class. If you have to miss a week, you return the next time you’re available until you’ve attended 6 class sessions. We do recommend coming each week, as dogs learn quicker with repetition, but now you don’t have to miss out if life gets in the way. Also, this allows for anyone to join the class at any time and not have to wait until a new “class one” begins.
How does it work?
We tailor each class to the students in attendance. You get personalized instruction based on the level your dog is at rather than a blanket lesson everyone must do at the same pace. So younger, untrained dogs can start at the beginning of training while older or more experienced dogs are given a variety of challenges. Likewise, dogs with behavioral issues can get individualized direction and focus on exercises to improve their problems.
Why is the class so cheap?
We aim to help dog lovers overcome the obstacles of behavioral issues and lack of training so that they will never feel the need to re-home the dogs or surrender them to the shelter. We both feel that dog training should be accessible to all people of all incomes. Books and videos are excellent tools, but nothing compares to working one-on-one with a professional trainer, and why should a professional trainer be so over-priced as to not be accessible to every home with a dog?

What you’ll need when you come to class:
1. Arrive early This is a new environment for your dog. Let him/her walk around and sniff the area ahead of class time to help familiarize him with the park and to help calm him down before class begins.
2. Treats We focus on positive reinforcement, so treats early on are a big help to motivate your dog. Treats should be small so he doesn’t get full. Find what excites your dog. We bring hot dogs (chicken, low sodium). They smell great and are very enticing. These are special training treats only. No dog should have human food as a long term part of his diet.
3. Treat bag The treats should be in something like a “fanny pack.” An exterior pouch that you can easily grab the treats and give the reward quickly. Pockets don’t work! You spend time digging for the treat and miss the window to reward good behavior.
4. Water A dehydrated dog is a distracted dog who can’t learn. Whether it’s the weather, getting a lot of treats, or purely excitement, dogs need to have access to water in class.
5. Leash The optimum leash length is 6 feet. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES! These are dangerous for both you and your dog.
